Britain’s 1950 saucer committee found no material evidence and left no documented trail to a recovered-craft program.
The surviving record shows a small intelligence-and-science committee created to assess a Cold War identification problem. Its report treated the reviewed sightings as ordinary phenomena and recommended stopping special investigations until physical evidence emerged. Churchill received an answer informed by that report, but the documents do not establish a British recovered-craft program or a connection to a 1947 meeting.

Britain’s 1951 UFO report made missing physical evidence a reason to stop looking. Uncertainty became official closure.
A secret five-member committee produced DSI/JTIC Report No. 7, Britain’s 1951 review of flying-saucer reports. It offered tentative ordinary explanations, then urged a halt without material evidence. Hidden for decades, the report later shaped replies to Churchill. Its paper trail shows how official closure can leave a larger story outside the file.
