The Story
Operation Highjump mapped and trained across Antarctica; the Nazi base and UFO battle belong to a later story, not the documented mission.
Highjump was a real, unusually large Antarctic operation, but its documented objectives were training, research, mapping, logistics, and maintaining a strategic presence. Germany’s earlier expedition is real; a surviving underground base, UFO battle, or destruction mission is not established in the cited operational record. The mystery grew when separate classified activities were joined into one hidden-war story.
- Highjump’s stated objectives included polar training, ship and aircraft evaluation, scientific data collection, photography, logistics, and future base selection.
- A 1947 Army observers’ report covers engineering, transport, aircraft, search and rescue, communications, photography, meteorology, and scientific exploration.
- The peer-reviewed historical account describes the Nazi-base narrative as a myth formed by connecting otherwise separate Antarctic activities and gaps in early information.

Deeper Insight
Base 211 grew in the gaps between real Antarctic missions, not from a documented UFO battle.
Nearly 5,000 personnel and major naval and air assets made Highjump look like a war story waiting to happen. Add Germany’s real Antarctic expedition, postwar U-boats, classified operations, and thin early information, and scattered facts snapped into one map of Base 211 and UFOs. The lesson is sharper: secrecy feeds myth, but the record still matters.
- The originating story combines New Swabia, Base 211, Hollow Earth, advanced technology, UFOs, and a claimed secret mission into one theory of Highjump.
- The alternative account treats Highjump’s scale, nearly 5,000 personnel and major naval and air assets, as mismatched with a simple training mission.
- Historical analysis identifies the ingredients that feed the story: Germany’s expedition, British wartime activity, postwar U-boats, Highjump, and later classified operations.

This is my all time favourite conspiracy theory! What happens when you combine Nazi Germany, UFOs, the Hollow Earth, ancient civilizations, and one of the most mysterious Antarctic expeditions in history? In December 1946, the United States sent 13 ships and thousands of military personnel to Antarctica under Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd. Officially, it was a scientific and military expedition. Bu
