DMT entity encounters point to a repeatable, social dimension of consciousness beyond ordinary perception.
The mainstream research position treats DMT entity encounters as genuine subjective experiences whose content can be studied without assuming that the entities exist independently. Surveys and field studies find recurring patterns, autonomous-seeming agents, vivid visual encounters, apparent communication, and strong emotional impact, while neurophenomenological and evolutionary accounts emphasize altered cognition, anthropomorphism, and mechanisms that generate social-agent perceptions.
In survey after survey, the beings act surprised to see us. Hallucinations don't usually react to the person having them.
Guides, spirits, aliens, insect-like beings, even intelligent cacti. The cast is wild, but the reports rhyme: the entities seem conscious, kind, and a little startled by the visitor. People come back with messages, sometimes predictions, and a worldview that doesn't snap back. Many stay convinced the beings are still there. Whatever they are, they keep leaving a mark.
