Are these South Korea financial cyberattacks being driven by AI-powered malware?Source

AI tools were used in an earlier campaign; the latest South Korean breaches still need their own forensic chain.
The earlier campaign has a strong AI-use signal: CrowdStrike found ARTEX configuration files, Claude Code histories, and memory files on infrastructure linked to data exfiltration. But the newest breaches remain a separate evidentiary question. Public reporting has not mapped them to the same actor, tools, or intrusion chain, and AI assistance is not the same as autonomous malware.
AI can help one attacker try many doors. How long before our financial defenses cannot keep up?
Daishin reported that 38,490 customers’ personal data was exposed, while Mirae Asset and Bithumb, a South Korean cryptocurrency exchange, were also hit. Earlier attacks involved ARTEX, an AI penetration-testing tool, but investigators have not tied these new breaches to the same actor or methods. The pattern points to more targets and less room for human error to save us.
