A crypto investor predicts AI, robots and crypto will upend the global economy within four years.

Pal's four-year clock is the sideshow. The real risk is machines making wealth while everyone else loses the power to verify or share it.

Raoul Pal gives the future a deadline: about four years until AI, robotics, energy and crypto trigger his “Economic Singularity.” The date is disputed, but the fault line is real. Fast automation could cut wages, concentrate income and outrun our ability to check machine-made decisions. That is a bad bargain when a machine-made paycheck, price or verdict can no longer be trusted.

• What it could changeA true verification bottleneck could make human checks too slow for the systems making economic decisions.
• How it touches todayAI already puts pressure on wages, demand and the small number of owners who capture its gains.
• Our futureIf ownership keeps narrowing, abundance could leave most people more dependent, not more secure.

• A 2026 framework argues that automation may scale faster than human verification, creating systemic risk through a “verification bottleneck.”arxiviq
