Nova Scotia’s strongest records show strange events were reported, not that ghosts caused them.
The best-documented material is historical testimony and journalism about unusual events, not proof of ghosts. The MacDonald farm has multiple written accounts, while the Amherst case has a prominent firsthand investigator’s narrative. Those records establish what people reported and how seriously it was taken; they do not establish a supernatural cause.
The evidence records a disturbance, not a ghost. That gap is the real haunting.
Thirty-eight small blue fires, moving furniture, and freed animals made the MacDonald farm impossible to dismiss as a single sighting. Investigator H. B. Whidden recorded the case. Walter Hubbell spent months observing the Amherst phenomena. Neither established a supernatural cause. The record gives us testimony, not closure, and leaves room to keep asking.
