Homeopathy is an alternative medical system developed in Germany around the late 18th or early 19th century. It uses individualized remedies based on “like cures like” and repeated dilution, sometimes to the point that no original molecules remain. Mainstream medical and public-health sources find little or no good-quality evidence that it treats health conditions beyond placebo effects, and caution that some products may still contain active or harmful ingredients.

Practitioners select a substance associated with a person’s symptom pattern, dilute and succuss it, and regard the resulting preparation as therapeutically active. This lens explains the system’s internal rationale, while acknowledging that its claims are disputed by evidence-based medicine.
