The Story
Astral projection reports begin with real sensations, but the sensations do not prove that consciousness has left the body.
The threshold resembles a vivid sleep-boundary experience: buzzing, paralysis, heaviness, floating, fear, and altered visual perception arrive as awareness returns while the body remains still. Reports of rooms, figures, and separation are meaningful experiences for the people describing them, but the sources do not show that an astral body has physically departed.
- Descriptions of buzzing, paralysis, pressure, floating, and loud noises are recurring features in accounts of astral projection sensations.
- The originating report combines colored visual flashes, a jet-like hum, slowed bodily sensation, and an upward dragging feeling.
- A reference overview states that there is no scientific evidence for consciousness operating separately from normal neural activity or making observations outside the body.

Deeper Insight
The roar and the colors are the doorway; what lies beyond may be a mind-state or a reality we have not learned to measure.
A body that turns heavy while sound swells into a roar marks a powerful threshold between waking, sleep, and self-awareness. The repeated pattern invites a deeper reading: consciousness can feel radically separate before anyone agrees what that separation means. Accounts of closed-eye vision, figures, and a cord give the experience a world of its own, even where its ontology remains unsettled.
- The originating account presents separation as a sequence of colored flashes, intensifying mechanical sound, loss of bodily feeling, and upward movement.
- Other experienced accounts describe closed-eye perception of rooms, nearby figures, angels, and environments that seem to continue beyond ordinary waking space.
- Historical accounts by Sylvan Muldoon include paralysis, floating, observing the sleeping body, and a connecting cord, showing how these motifs became central to astral-projection practice.

What do you guys see/feel before you leave your body when astral projecting?

For me, I see a strobing, cloud-like (in form) set of colors one after the other. Violet, blue, red, and green. A humming/roaring noise that reminds me of a jet engine (almost) starts out quietly, and grows louder as I give into it. Then I feel almost like I'm dying -- aware my physical body exists, but my heart has slowed to less than 60 bpm and I can't actually feel where anything is as I feel a
