Sleep problems are widespread, but the available data do not show a sudden insomnia cluster across West Coast states.
Sleep problems are real and widespread, but the available evidence does not show a newly emerging West Coast event. CDC data document frequent trouble falling or staying asleep, while earlier state-level research placed the West Coast among the regions reporting fewer sleep disturbances. The Reddit reports are a signal worth investigating, but they do not measure incidence or prove a shared cause.
When sleeplessness appears in scattered homes at once, the missing piece is not testimony but a system built to detect patterns early.
Several people describing sleepless nights across distant states create a pattern the formal data may miss, especially when acute insomnia appears suddenly and online systems connect people experiencing the same distress. The deeper possibility is not a proven regional illness but a shared pressure, stress, disrupted routines, technology or health conditions, showing up at once. Better reporting would reveal whether the anecdotes are an early signal or coincidence.
