Are these South Korea financial cyberattacks being driven by AI-powered malware?Source

AI tools were used in an earlier campaign; the latest South Korean breaches still need their own forensic chain.
The earlier campaign has a strong AI-use signal: CrowdStrike found ARTEX configuration files, Claude Code histories, and memory files on infrastructure linked to data exfiltration. But the newest breaches remain a separate evidentiary question. Public reporting has not mapped them to the same actor, tools, or intrusion chain, and AI assistance is not the same as autonomous malware.
Claude Code session logs turned up on servers used to steal data. AI gave a small crew the reach of a whole team.
Daishin Securities lost personal data on 38,490 customers. Mirae Asset and Bithumb, a crypto exchange, were hit too. Investigators haven't tied the new wave to the earlier campaign, where CrowdStrike, a security firm, found ARTEX, an AI penetration-testing tool, and Claude Code histories on the attackers' servers. Human hands still ran it. AI just let them try many more doors.
