Reptilians on planet earth
If some of our leaders and institutions were literally driven by nonhuman minds we cannot perceive, what would that rewrite about who’s been steering history and why we missed it?
Evidence strength: The claim that reptilian humanoids secretly live among humans or control Earth lacks credible scientific, biological, genetic, photographic, or documentary evidence. A small minority continues to assert it, mainly within conspiracy and New Age communities.

Summary
Mainstream scientific and scholarly assessment treats Earth-dwelling, shape-shifting reptilians as unsupported. The theory offers no credible biological, genetic, photographic, or documentary evidence, while its imagery and narrative can be traced through mythology, theosophy, fiction, and modern conspiracy culture.
- There is no credible evidence that reptilian humanoids live among humans, impersonate public figures, or secretly control governments.
- The modern theory was popularized by David Icke, especially through works including The Biggest Secret, published in 1999.
- Historical analysis identifies antecedents in theosophy and Robert E. Howard's fictional serpent men, rather than evidence of an actual species.
Deeper Insight
Believers and some communities describe reptilians as humanoid beings concealed among humans, sometimes with powers of mimicry, disappearance, or control. Anthropological analysis documents how these narratives operate in lived social worlds, while supporting sources do not provide independently verifiable proof of the beings' physical existence.
- Some people in Mexico describe reptilians as humanoid, reptilian-looking aliens living on Earth and posing as humans to dominate them.
- Believer accounts commonly claim that reptilians use camouflage, disappearance, or shape-shifting to remain hidden within human society.
- The theory is understood by adherents as an explanation for hidden power, political control, and the actions of elites or public figures.
