The Story
The Roswell transcript has a dramatic story, but its surviving record begins with a 2008 book and no original documents.
The document arrives decades after 1947 through a 2008 publication whose editor disclaims factuality, cannot establish MacElroy’s existence, and no longer has the alleged originals. Its provenance does not meet the standard for a genuine eyewitness transcript. The Roswell setting is itself part of a broader disputed history, while the text’s surviving chain of custody begins with Spencer’s book.
- The editor’s own disclaimer says the work should be treated as fiction for practical purposes and that he cannot prove MacElroy existed.
- The editor says he no longer possesses any original documents or copies allegedly received from MacElroy.
- The transcript’s publication and circulation are documented from 2008 onward, not through a contemporaneous 1947 archive.
Deeper Insight
If MacElroy’s notes were real, the missing originals became the barrier between a hidden encounter and a story no one can test.
A nurse’s alleged private notes, military debriefings, and a being called Airl give the account a human witness at its center. That structure keeps open the possibility that Spencer preserved a genuine testimony, even though the surviving record cannot independently verify it. The deeper issue is who gets to define an extraordinary event when the originals are gone and only a mediated account remains.
- The narrative places MacElroy at the center as the only person who could communicate with Airl and describes repeated military debriefings after interviews.
- Spencer’s account says he received official transcripts, personal notes, and a letter from the late MacElroy describing her alleged Army Air Force duty.
- The text presents itself as a first-person record involving personal notes, stenographers, and military personnel, giving the story a detailed eyewitness framework even though the originals are unavailable.

Alien Interview (1947 Roswell transcript attributed to Matilda O'Donnell MacElroy), adapted as a full animated film
Forum or personal account
The Alien Interview is the 1947 Roswell transcript attributed to Army nurse Matilda O'Donnell MacElroy, who claimed she was the only person the being, "Airl," would communicate with. Whether you read it as real, fiction, or something in between, it's one of the stranger documents in UFO lore. I adapted the whole thing into a full-length animated film: all 8 chapters cut together. Visuals and voice
