The strongest established result is anatomical and functional evidence in mice. Human research supports the broader possibility of ocular glymphatic or lymphatic clearance, and a 2026 preprint reports posterior transport imaging in healthy human participants. However, the available evidence does not yet demonstrate that humans possess the same defined POLO vessel network or that it performs the same drainage role as in mice.

A more expansive interpretation treats mouse POLO, ocular glymphatic research, and emerging human imaging as parts of one conserved clearance system. That reading is biologically plausible because the eye has neural and fluid-clearance relationships analogous to the brain, but it moves beyond what has been directly established: human choroidal lymphatics and the exact route remain debated, and disease or treatment implications are unproven.
