Construct validity

The mainstream view treats construct validity as the overarching, evidence-based evaluation of whether score interpretations are appropriate for a specified construct and use. It does not reduce validity to one coefficient or study: researchers should define the construct, operationalize it carefully, test predicted relations and internal structure, examine convergent and discriminant evidence, and seek replication across methods and samples.
