The Story
Bubble-collision scars are the clearest proposed target; no experiment has yet found one.
The practical target is eternal inflation: collisions between bubble universes might leave patterns in the cosmic microwave background, and laboratory work is exploring related primordial bubble physics. Many-Worlds is not automatically experimentally distinct from ordinary quantum mechanics; proposed cosmological tests show that falsifiability is possible in principle, not that a parallel branch has been observed.
- Bubble-universe collisions could leave observable scars in radiation from the Big Bang, motivating experimental and observational searches.
- Everett Many-Worlds has been argued to be testable through cosmology, but the proposal is about possible falsification, not an established observation.
- Testing multiverse theories is weakened by measure choices and researcher-dependent assumptions about typical observers.

Deeper Insight
The multiverse hunt starts here: a scar in the sky, or a branch hidden in quantum reality.
A pattern in the cosmic microwave background could be the calling card of a bubble universe colliding with ours. Many-Worlds opens a second route, using cosmology to probe reality’s branching structure. The payoff is enormous: our universe could become evidence that it has neighbors.
- Inflationary models can generate separate regions with different properties, but turning that idea into predictions requires solving how observations are sampled across the multiverse.
- The Everett interpretation treats alternate quantum histories as real branches, and cosmological tests have been proposed despite claims that it is inherently untestable.
- Indirect evidence could distinguish multiverse ideas from purely metaphysical speculation if a theory makes successful, discriminating predictions.
