Evidence strength: Available genetic testing of purported Yeti material has identified known mammals, especially Himalayan and Tibetan bears, while no physical specimen or conclusive biological evidence supports a surviving Migoi population. Cultural testimony and reports remain important to the tradition, but do not establish the creature’s existence.

The Migoi belongs to Bhutanese tradition, but its tested physical traces belong to known animals.
The physical record resolves into ordinary Himalayan wildlife. Genetic analyses of hair, teeth, skin, fur, and feces attributed to Yetis identified bears, a dog, and other known mammals; a Bhutanese hair sample in the earlier study had an unusual polar-bear affinity, not evidence of a hidden primate. The case for a biological Migoi has no confirmed specimen.
People in Bhutan still tell the Migoi’s story; every tested hair or tooth has come from a known animal.
The Migoi remains more than a monster story in Bhutan: it is carried through Brokpa tradition, place-names, and a sanctuary associated with its habitat. That cultural continuity explains why searches continue, but the physical case rests on ambiguous reports and samples that have not yielded a distinct species. The deeper possibility is cultural survival, not demonstrated biology.

Bhutan created the world's only national wildlife sanctuary explicitly designated to protect the "Migoi"—their local version of the Yeti
Nestled in the eastern Himalayas, Bhutan set aside 740 square kilometers of high-altitude forest to create the Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary. While the park protects real endangered species like snow leopards and red pandas, it holds a truly wild distinction: it is the only nature reserve on Earth established with the official purpose of preserving the habitat of an unproven cryptid. Known locally as
