The Story
Purnima Ekanayake’s records document striking matches to Jinadasa Perera, but they do not establish how those matches arose.
The strongest ordinary reading is that Haraldsson documented a striking cluster of correspondences: early statements, a later-identified deceased person, and birthmarks aligned with injuries in a post-mortem report. That supports the accuracy and unusualness of the case record. It does not independently verify reincarnation, because correspondence can be documented without establishing the mechanism that produced it.
- Haraldsson’s published case report says an incense maker was identified after Purnima gave a location, and his post-mortem report showed wounds in the same area as her birthmarks.
- A later summary reports that fourteen of seventeen verifiable statements matched Jinadasa’s life, but that figure comes through a secondary presentation of the case.
- The supplied evidence documents the reported correspondence; it does not provide an independently accepted test that proves reincarnation as its cause.
Deeper Insight
Purnima’s marks and memories converge on one dead man, raising a larger question about what a human life can carry forward.
Purnima’s reported trade knowledge, recognitions, life details, and injury-mark correspondences form a pattern that survival researchers regard as meaningful. It challenges the assumption that memory and bodily development are fully explained by ordinary family transmission, keeping reincarnation in play as a possibility. The supplied record does not demonstrate the mechanism or rule out every ordinary pathway.
- Purnima reportedly named unusual incense brands, described their production, recognized people in Kelaniya, and supplied details linked to Jinadasa’s life.
- Haraldsson’s case report places the birthmarks and Perera’s post-mortem injuries in corresponding areas, creating a physical as well as autobiographical match.
- Broader birthmark research reports post-mortem confirmation of wound-mark correspondence in 43 of 49 cases where medical documentation was obtained; this supports a research pattern, not proof of reincarnation in this case.
