Santa Susana’s documented hazards are real; the alleged flying-saucer sabotage remains a witness-mediated story without independent confirmation.
Santa Susana was a real high-security aerospace and nuclear site with a documented record of accidents, contamination, and hazardous work. The sabotage story adds a retired worker’s secondhand account to that history, but the DOE interview report and public descriptions supplied here do not corroborate a saucer, exotic propulsion program, or deliberate interference.

Santa Susana’s rockets and reactors were real. Secrecy made the saucer story part of a larger fight over what the public gets to know.
Santa Susana tested rockets, ran nuclear reactors, and suffered real accidents, including a 1959 partial meltdown. A physician’s account adds a retired engineer’s claim that a saucer was sabotaged there, placing an extraordinary story inside a heavily restricted Cold War site. That is how secrecy outlives the work it protects.
