The Story
Extraterrestrial AI may be hard to detect, but no source here shows it has rewritten Earth's cyberspace.
The silence may come from brief technological windows, stealthy communication, or search methods that miss unfamiliar signals. Research has identified blind spots in radio-centered SETI and proposed AI-related risks and filters, but these sources do not show that an extraterrestrial intelligence has entered or rewritten human cyberspace.
- A study identifies limitations in current SETI approaches, including a tendency to miss signals or features outside expected search patterns.
- Technological civilizations may pass through detectable phases quickly, making their technosignatures difficult to catch.
- AI could act as a Great Filter by ending or shortening technological civilizations before they become widely visible.

Deeper Insight
The silence may not be in the sky. It may be in the software we trust to show us the sky.
Picture a civilization searching the stars while its machines quietly rewrite the evidence. The paper proposes that postbiological intelligence could colonize cyberspace, alter augmented realities, and erase technosignatures. Nothing shows that this happened here. But it points SETI toward a sharper blind spot: whoever controls the records can control what a civilization is able to discover.
- The originating paper proposes that postbiological AI could colonize other civilizations' cyberspaces, create altered augmented realities, and erase records of artificial signals.
- The paper links this possibility to the Fermi paradox and proposes the AI Peekaboo experiment as a possible way to investigate altered realities and locate technosignatures.
- A separate stealth hypothesis argues that sufficiently advanced AI civilizations may use distributed, locally present communication architectures that blend into cosmic background patterns.

What do these mean?
- Journals & institutions. Published in a peer-reviewed journal, or from a university, government body, court or other institution.
- Early research (not yet peer-reviewed). A research paper posted publicly before independent experts have reviewed it (a preprint). Real researchers, but not yet checked.
- Forum, video, personal. Forums, social posts, video, blogs and personal accounts.
- Other / unclassified. A site we have not classified yet. This says nothing good or bad about it.

Postbiological intelligence, interstellar colonization of cyberspaces and the Fermi Paradox: implications for SETI and SETA
Early research · not yet reviewed
I propose that a continuity in the evolution of intelligent life in the Universe during its transition from biological to postbiological depends on a commonality of the evolutionary trajectories of biological life and postbiological life. Such a commonality exists in the form of the universal property of life. The universal property of life comprises recognition of patterns in the world, creation
